ANNOUNCED OFFER FOR NOVEMBER 17–25, 2026 — NOT ACTIVE BEFORE NOVEMBER 17. The prices below are the confirmed partner offer announced for those dates: 24 months plus 4 bonus months. Before November 17, the current offer button may show different pricing.
Someone is watching on the living-room TV. Two laptops are open at the kitchen table. Four phones are connected, including the one nobody can find. Your household has somehow become a small electronics department.
One ExpressVPN subscription can cover a family’s devices, provided you stay within its simultaneous-connection limit. Basic allows 10, Advanced allows 12, and Express Pro allows 14. The useful question is how many connections your household needs at the busiest moment.
Choosing ExpressVPN for families starts with a count, then a look at the extras. You do not automatically need the biggest plan because there are children, tablets, and a drawer full of old phones.

Count Connections, Not People or App Installations
ExpressVPN’s current connection limits apply to devices using the VPN at the same time. Its official FAQ separately confirms that you can install the apps on as many devices as you need.
That distinction matters. An old laptop with ExpressVPN installed does not reserve a permanent slot. A phone that remains connected while sitting in your pocket still contributes to the active count.
Consider this example of a four-person household, with each device running its own VPN connection:
- Four phones: 4 connections.
- Two adults’ laptops and two children’s laptops: 4 more.
- Two tablets: 2 more.
- One Apple TV running the VPN app: 1 more.
That is 11 simultaneous connections. Basic is one short; Advanced leaves one spare; Pro leaves three. Add a second TV and a desktop computer, both connected, and the total becomes 13.
Now change the routine. If the tablets and children’s laptops are never connected simultaneously, the same collection might peak at nine. Basic could fit. Count a realistic busy evening, rather than every electronic object with a charging cable.
ExpressVPN’s multiple-device guidance explicitly describes sharing one subscription within a household. Treat it as an account you manage together, with clear responsibility for billing and setup.
The Announced November 17–25 Family Budget
The announced offer provides 28 months in total: 24 paid months plus 4 bonus months. The advertised monthly figures are equivalents for that introductory term, not a promise of monthly billing.
The discounts below are the confirmed partner figures. The final column is our calculation: advertised monthly equivalent × 28, before tax. These are estimated totals, not confirmed checkout charges.
USD announced rates
| Plan | Monthly equivalent | Announced discount | Estimated 28-month total before tax |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $2.79 | 81% | $78.12 |
| Advanced | $3.99 | 76% | $111.72 |
| Pro | $6.99 | 69% | $195.72 |
EUR announced rates
| Plan | Monthly equivalent | Announced discount | Estimated 28-month total before tax |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | €2.39 | 81% | €66.92 |
| Advanced | €3.49 | 76% | €97.72 |
| Pro | €5.99 | 70% | €167.72 |
For this announced offer, moving from Basic to Advanced adds an estimated USD 33.60 or EUR 30.80 over 28 months. Moving from Advanced to Pro adds USD 84.00 or EUR 70.00. That makes the decision easier to evaluate than three small monthly numbers.
Before purchasing, check the actual initial charge, currency, tax, renewal price, and renewal interval. The announced introductory offer does not establish what your later renewal will cost.
Which Tier Fits Your Household?
Basic: enough room for many ordinary homes
Start here if your busy-hour count stays below ten and your main requirement is the VPN. Leave some breathing room for a visiting relative’s device or the tablet that suddenly becomes essential on a rainy weekend.
For a closer look at the entry tier, see whether ExpressVPN Basic is worth it.
Advanced: two more connections and useful extras
Advanced is the natural comparison for our eleven-device example. It also includes ExpressKeys, which ExpressVPN lists for Advanced and Pro in its product overview. Consider whether you will use that password manager before assigning it value.
Twelve VPN connections do not automatically mean twelve separate licenses for every bundled service. Check the terms of any extra your family plans to share.
Pro: extra capacity or a specific dedicated-IP need
Pro raises the ceiling to fourteen and includes a dedicated IP. A larger family does not automatically need that feature. It is more relevant when an approved service expects a consistent address.
Our ExpressVPN dedicated IP and Pro guide explains that separate decision. A dedicated IP is not a general promise of fewer account checks or universal website access.
Set Up the Household Without Becoming Permanent Tech Support
- List the devices and their owners. Include TVs and spare laptops that actually connect.
- Check compatibility. Use ExpressVPN’s supported-device list for the exact platform.
- Install from the official source. Help each person activate their app, then explain the connection indicator and disconnect button.
- Try ordinary tasks. Open school resources, video calls, shopping accounts, and the services your family uses.
- Repeat during a busy evening. Confirm the device count works when several people are online together.
For the living-room box, our ExpressVPN setup guide for Apple TV covers that device separately. Streaming availability still depends on the service, account, location, and its VPN policies.
Ask the administrator before installing anything on a school or work device. A household subscription does not override an organisation’s device policy.
Would a VPN Router Make More Sense?
A router can reduce the number of separate VPN connections needed at home. ExpressVPN says its Fortify router counts as one device toward the included Advanced plan, even when several devices use it.
That can help with TVs and consoles, but the traffic must actually be assigned to an active VPN connection. ExpressVPN’s Fortify setup guidance explains that excluded devices may use the ordinary connection, depending on the routing and kill-switch settings.
Check the exact router model, firmware, and current support before buying hardware or changing settings. Obtain the owner’s permission for shared equipment and ask IT about managed networks. A VPN-compatible label is not enough detail for a safe installation decision.
There is a current wrinkle: Aircove is retired from sale. Existing Aircove receives security updates through the end of 2027, and Aircove Go through 2028. ExpressVPN’s router FAQ also warns that its legacy third-party router app no longer receives security updates.
For a new setup, evaluate currently supported options rather than copying an old firmware tutorial. Router hardware is a separate purchase from the announced subscription prices above.
Keep the phone and laptop apps available for travel. Your home router does not follow you onto mobile data, however much you paid for it.
Advanced Protection Is Included Across the Plans
The plan called Advanced and the feature called Advanced Protection are different things. ExpressVPN’s support page updated October 30, 2026 says all three tiers include the feature suite: ad, tracker, malicious-site, and adult-site blocking.
Check the controls on each device. The documented desktop, mobile, and Android TV features require an active VPN connection using a supported protocol other than IKEv2. Apple TV has ad and tracker blocking, rather than the full set. Do not assume installation alone has enabled every option.
For children, think of these filters as one useful layer. Domain blocking cannot replace age-appropriate accounts, app permissions, screen-time settings, or conversations about messages and purchases. Nor does a VPN make everything a child encounters inside an allowed app suitable.
Keep the family’s device controls in place and explain what the VPN actually does. Avoid presenting a green connection indicator as an all-purpose internet safety certificate.
Keep the Shared Account Under Control
Choose one adult to handle renewal reminders and account recovery. Use a unique account password and secure its email inbox with two-factor authentication, as ExpressVPN recommends.
Help people activate their devices without leaving passwords or activation codes in a group chat. Keep billing access separate from everyday use where possible. If a device is sold or handed on, sign out and remove personal data before it leaves the household.
When a connection-limit warning appears, first check which devices are still connected. Disconnect one you no longer need. If the warning appears below your plan’s limit, contact support rather than buying another subscription immediately.
One Subscription on the Family Trip
Your normal count can change while travelling: tablets that stayed in a drawer at home suddenly become essential entertainment. Set up the apps before leaving and finish any hotel Wi-Fi login before starting the VPN.
You still need an internet connection and a suitable data plan. A VPN does not add gigabytes; use our weekly travel-data guide to budget for the whole family.
Choose the tier that fits your real peak usage and the extras you need. If you are comparing the announced prices, remember the window: November 17–25, 2026. Before November 17, the button takes you to the current offer, which can differ.
FAQ
Does each family member need a separate subscription?
No. ExpressVPN describes household sharing on one subscription. The practical limit is the number of simultaneous connections allowed by your tier.
Can I install Basic on more than ten devices?
Yes. Installation count and connection count are different. Basic permits ten devices connected to the VPN at the same time.
Should every family choose Pro?
No. Count active devices first. Pro is worth considering when you need its capacity or specific extras, rather than simply because it is the highest tier.
Does the adult-site blocker replace parental controls?
It can help filter known adult domains. Keep age-appropriate device settings, app restrictions, and family rules alongside it.
Can I buy the announced offer before November 17?
The announced November 17–25 prices are not active before November 17, 2026. Check the current offer and the checkout terms if you need a subscription sooner.
