The naming is easy to misread. Cyber Monday falls on November 30, 2026, while NordVPN calls its December 2–9 promotion a Cyber Monday phase. According to the announced schedule, the lower Basic price will already have ended when that later phase begins.

No precise cutoff time or timezone was supplied for December 1. If you want that offer, leaving it until the final minute adds uncertainty for no practical benefit.

1. Decide whether Basic is the product you want
The $2.99 announcement concerns Basic. It does not make every NordVPN bundle $2.99, and it does not include every service shown in the campaign’s advertising.
If you mainly want a VPN connection across your everyday devices, Basic is the logical place to start. NordVPN permits ten simultaneous connections. If you are also shopping for a password manager, antivirus or cloud storage, compare the relevant bundle separately.

2. Turn the monthly headline into a real budget
A two-year plan is paid upfront. The monthly equivalent helps you compare subscriptions, but it is not the amount that will leave your account each month.
For the November promotion, check the full amount due in the order summary. The exact introductory term, bonus eligibility, local currency and tax all belong in that calculation. Three extra months are advertised across the seasonal campaign; make sure they appear in your own order summary.
The difference between $2.99 and $3.49 is 50 cents per advertised month. That is useful context, but it is only a fair comparison if the subscription length and included services match. If you need a VPN for one weekend, buying more than two years simply to secure the lowest monthly average may not suit your budget.
3. Check the next bill before paying the first
The promotional rate is an introductory price. NordVPN’s renewal policy explains that subscriptions renew automatically at the applicable renewal rate unless auto-renewal is cancelled. Renewal prices can change, with notice sent by email.
Before paying, record the first charge, the date the introductory term ends and the renewal amount displayed for your order. A calendar reminder will help you review the subscription before it renews. A deal is easier to assess when both payments are visible, even if the second is a long way off.

The 30-day money-back guarantee applies to an initial purchase, subject to the policy. It is not a free plan or a fresh refund window after every renewal. Different purchase channels can require different refund procedures.
What if you arrive after December 1?
The announced December 2–9 phase still offers discounted plans and bonus months, at a higher advertised starting price than the special Basic window. Compare the available plans with what you need. Missing an earlier discount is no reason to upgrade to a bundle you will barely use.
Also keep the regional percentage separate from the entry price. “Up to 78%” is a maximum for selected markets and plans, not a universal Basic discount. Check the figures for the package you actually intend to purchase.
My decision would be simple: if Basic fits and the announced lower offer appears in checkout during November 24–December 1, that is the window to consider. If I want additional services, I would judge the complete bundle on its own price and renewal terms.
