The Good Daughter reaches Peacock on November 12, 2026, with all six episodes released together. Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy play sisters who have built very different lives around the same family trauma. A new case forces them back into each other’s orbit.
The detail that caught my attention is that both sisters are lawyers. They are used to organising other people’s stories into something they can argue and defend. Their own history is much less manageable. For a very different lawyer under pressure, The Good Lawyer on Netflix follows a defence attorney trying to keep his own professional life from collapsing. The similar titles belong to separate productions.
Charlie stayed; Sam left
Peacock’s official programme page introduces Charlie Quinn, played by Fahy, as a defence lawyer in her Georgia hometown. Her older sister Sam, played by Byrne, works in patent law in New York. Charlie follows a path closer to their father Rusty’s; Sam has put distance between herself and the place where their lives were shattered.
A school shooting brings the family back together. That is the published premise, but the details of the investigation are better left to the series. What matters at the outset is that the new violence reopens something neither sister has been able to leave neatly in the past.
Staying and leaving can each become a story someone tells about survival. The person who stayed may see the departure as abandonment; the person who left may see distance as the only way to remain intact. That conflict gives this adaptation more to work with than a pair of investigators who merely disagree about a suspect. That uneasy relationship between past violence and adult identity is also central to Yellowjackets season 4, although its survival horror takes a much stranger route than this legal drama.

Karin Slaughter adapts her own novel
Slaughter writes and executive produces the series, with Steph Green directing. Peacock’s series introduction places the production around Atlanta and identifies the story as a limited thriller adaptation.
An author adapting her own work does not guarantee that every scene will survive unchanged. It does make the translation interesting. A novel can tell us exactly what a character thinks; a performance has to make that visible through speech, hesitation or refusal. For a story about sisters who know each other too well, what goes unsaid could be as important as the testimony.
The six-episode format gives the family and the case room to affect each other. I would hope the investigation does more than interrupt the sisters’ arguments, and that their personal history does more than supply a late twist. The premise suggests the two should be inseparable.
The cast around the Quinn sisters
| Actor | Character |
|---|---|
| Meghann Fahy | Charlie Quinn |
| Rose Byrne | Sam Quinn |
| Brendan Gleeson | Rusty Quinn |
| Olivia Williams | Harriet “Gamma” Quinn |
| Michael Dorman | Ben Bernard |
Gleeson’s Rusty matters to the setup because he is part of the family story and the town’s legal world. The sisters’ return is not simply a reunion between two adults who have drifted apart. They are coming back into a structure of old loyalties, obligations and judgments. The Hunting Wives season 2 offers another small-town drama where dangerous secrets complicate relationships, with a very different pair of women at its centre.
That is the appeal for me: a legal case can ask for an answer, while a family can spend years resisting the question. If you are drawn to crime drama with that kind of personal weight, our earlier Task article and Run Away guide belong on the related-reading list.
One release day, a US viewing route
All six episodes arrive on the same day, so there is no weekly schedule to calculate. The confirmed launch is Peacock in the United States. Peacock’s availability guidance covers the US and specified US territories; it does not tell us which service will carry The Good Daughter in other countries.
Our Peacock viewing guide covers the wider platform, but the current official listing should decide your access. I have not turned the US announcement into a promise about a UK, Canadian or Australian release.
The subject matter includes a school shooting and earlier family violence. That is useful to know before choosing the series, without turning a preview into a catalogue of disturbing scenes. Peacock lists it as TV-MA.
A VPN purchase remains separate from those viewing conditions. It cannot create a local licence or guarantee that the service will accept the connection.
